U3a Day – 2nd June 2021:

There is a place for you in Chiltern u3a!

Chiltern u3a is delighted to be joining u3as from across the UK on u3a Day to promote this fantastic movement which has over 450,000 Members (www.u3a.org.uk)

Chiltern u3a (Cu3a) is a Member-led organisation based in and around Amersham offering a wide range of physical, intellectual and creative interest Groups, regular speakers and social events. It is open to anyone in their ‘third age’ (i.e.no longer in full-time work or other full-time commitment).

Cu3a’s Members can choose activities from over 100 interest Groups including everything from Ancient Cultures, Apple & Android Users through Drama, Dancing, Language and Music to Walking, Wine Tasting and Yoga. The Cu3a website lists available activities for every weekday and is known for its sense of community and for providing intellectual stimulation and fun!(www.chiltern-u3a.org.uk )

More than half of Cu3a’s interest Groups have been operating during Covid restrictions by embracing technology and running ‘virtual’ meetings by using Zoom, Skype, Teams etc. Groups are also keeping in touch with their Members by e-mail, telephone calling and regular e-bulletins. Ready for u3a Day we are also launching a Facebook page (Facebook.com/chilternu3a)

Offered alongside the Groups are ‘virtual’ external speaker events and socials which can be attended by all Members – even if they do not live locally. Cu3a’s on-line activities have proved very popular with Members during the Covid restrictions.

What members have been saying:
“Life as part of Cu3a is so much richer, uplifting our spirits!”
“I have met such a diverse range of people.”
“Cu3a Members are always cheerful, positive and welcoming.”
“I am learning about things that I’ve not done in my life and always wanted to!”
“A great way to be in contact with new people.”
“CU3A treat you like an individual.”

Cu3a prides itself on being inclusive – There is a place for you in Chiltern u3a!
